Elizabeth Jane Hurley has been a model and actor in the United Kingdom since the early 1980s. In the year 1990 it was reported that she could have been Hugh Grant's girlfriend. As Grant's film Four Weddings and a Funeral became the subject of global media attention, Hurley accompanied Grant to its Los Angeles premiere wearing a black Versace dress with gold safety-pins. It instantly brought her media recognition. Hurley has enjoyed a thriving professional career, however her connection with Estee Lauder cosmetics is the most important. Hurley received her first modeling contract at age of 29, and has been using her to model Estee Lader's cosmetics since the year 1995. Vanessa Kensington is her best known role from her roles in the Mike Myers spy comedies International Man of Mystery (1997) as well as Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me Both of which were huge hits. Hurley is the designer and model of the brand's eponymous collection of swimwear. Perry made more of a splash several months later with the single I Kissed a Girl an assertive ode to sexual curiosity backed by a rough electro-pop beat. I Kissed a Girl was immediately a hit but it soon sparked controversy. Critics argued that it encouraged sexual relationships between gay and straight men, however others believed that the scene which was depicted on the album appealed more to male fantasies. I Kissed a Girl became an international number-one single due to its combination of sexual enticement and a refined melody. It also helped her sell more albums, such as One of the Boys. The sharp and bouncy second single was also popular. The album Perry wrote in large part sold over three million copies.
